Black Sheep Leather

About me

Black Sheep Leather was founded in 2013 producing top quality handmade leather accessories. I use only the best materials available and combine vintage and contemporary designs to create a distinctive and unique range. The products are stylish, practical and full of character and with very few of any design ever made have an exclusive appeal. All are individually handcrafted, using traditional tools and methods, and many are entirely hand stitched.

I work from home in Kendal in the English Lake District National Park. Before I started working on leather I used to work in the hotel business. One day I was looking for a passport holder and the idea came up in my head “Why don’t I make my own?”. That was the beginning of my leather working and falling in love with the craftsmanship and skills needed. I trained at the Cumbria School of Saddlery and practiced a range of different techniques and it is the saddle stitch that I mainly use on my products.

Everyday I feel I learn more about working as an artisan leather craftsman. I constantly develop new designs and incorporate new techniques. When you buy one of my products I ensure that you receive a beautiful handcrafted item, made with the utmost care and attention, and I really hope that you will enjoy using it for years to come.
